Jermaine Dupri wants smoke with Diddy.
While Fat Joe and Ja Rule were facing off during Tuesday night’s Verzuz battle, Jermaine Dupri was eyeing his own competition. Taking to Twitter, the producer behind mega-hits for Mariah Carey and Usher challenged Diddy to a battle.
J.D. shared a photo of himself outside New York City’s Madison Square Garden where Fat Joe and Ja Rule were hosting their live-streamed battle.
“Somebody let @Diddy know I’m @thegarden right now ! And he gon need some training for me,” he tweeted.
Less than an hour later, the Bad Boy hitmaker responded by rejecting the invitation, claiming that J.D. doesn’t have enough hits in his catalog to go up against him.
“Beloved you my ni**a but your arms too short to box with God!!! You aiint got enough hits,” tweeted Puff. “I’ll smash you with just biggie n Mary . But I do have the upmost respect on you as a musical legend.”
According to Diddy, his only worthy opponent is Dr. Dre. “Dre the only one can get in the ring w me,” he added.
J.D. fired back by quoting Migos: “Don’t nothin’ get straightenin’ but straightenin.”
Back in March, Swizz Beatz revealed that Dr. Dre was ready to battle Diddy, but backed out at the last minute over production concerns.
“When Dr. Dre wasn’t feeling the sound from Teddy Riley and Babyface, that hurt our heart,” Swizz told “The Breakfast Club.” “I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ Dr. Dre was at the Teddy Riley one. But he was supposed to come at the end and announce that he was gon’ do Verzuz that night.”
Added Swizz, “He got on the phone, he was like, ‘Man, I can’t be a part of nothing that sound like that, my legacy is quality.’ I was just like, ‘Oh, we just lost Dre’ … That one felt pretty crazy.”
