T.I. is stirring up more controversy.
Amid allegations of sexual assault, the Atlanta rapper is weighing in on DaBaby’s viral comments. While on stage at Rolling Loud Miami on Sunday, the “Ball If I Want To” rapper raised eyebrows for his rant against the LGBTQ+ community.
“If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, any of them deadly sexually-transmitted diseases that’ll make you die in two, three weeks, put a cell phone lighter up,” DaBaby told the crowd. “Fellas, if you ain’t suckin’ dick in the parking lot, put your cell phone lights up.”
His DJ also chimed in, “Some of y’all ni**as suspect as a motherfu**er, let’s be real.”
DaBaby’s homophobic remarks sparked backlash on social media, prompting T.I. to respond. He came to DaBaby’s defense, while mentioning Lil Nas X, who is openly gay.
“If Lil Nas X can kick his shit in peace… so should dababy,” he commented.
Despite his sentiments, T.I. insisted that he is not homophobic. “Ain’t nothing in the world gon’ make me hate somebody cause they do something different in the bedroom than I do,” he said on Instagram Live. “You can’t make me homophobic just ‘cause I’m proud to be heterosexual. Ain’t no hate in that.”
He applauded artists like Lil Nas X and Frank Ocean for “living their truth.” “A lot of you motherfu**ers hide your truth,” he added. “I got a lot of respect for [Lil Nas X], but that shit ain’t for me. I don’t want my children seeing it either. Their minds haven’t developed to the place where they can sort it out.”
DaBaby’s Rolling Loud set was marred by controversy. He also brought out Tory Lanez following Megan Thee Stallion’s set.
