Kanye West previewed his new album Donda for a select group of fans and friends over the weekend.
The long-awaited project, which reportedly features Lil Baby, Travis Scott, and Pusha T, is already receiving glowing reviews from those who were lucky enough to get a listen including Instagram personality Justin Laboy.
The host of Revolt’s “Respectfully Justin” took to social media to rave about the project after Ye hosted a private listening for him and Kevin Durant. “He kills every beat, every hook, and every verse who is he?” asked Laboy. In his Instagram caption, he added, “His name is @kanyewest & this week he’s dropping another classic album. DONT @ ME.”
But Meek Mill didn’t seem to agree with Laboy’s “classic” comment. The Philly rapper responded to the post, writing, “Big cap.”
Laboy, who claims that Donda is dropping this week, continued to praise Kanye’s latest body of work. “The production is light years ahead of it’s time, and the bars sound like he’s broke & hungry trying to get signed again,” he continued. “Any artist who plan on dropping soon should just push it back.”
It’s unclear if Meek was taking a shot at Kanye with his “cap” comment. The two have had their issues in the past. In July of 2020, Kanye accused his now-estranged wife Kim Kardashian of having an inappropriate relationship with Meek.
“I been trying to get divorced since Kim met with Meek at the Warldolf for ‘prison reform,'” tweeted Ye while adding, “Meek is my man and was respectful. That’s my dog Kim was out of line.”
Kanye presented Donda at a listening party in Las Vegas on Sunday and he plans to host another event on Thursday in Atlanta.
