Roddy Ricch makes his return.
After teasing the song last month, the Grammy-winning rapper drops his latest single “Late at Night.” Over the sultry Mustard-produced instrumental, Roddy serenades his lady.
“Late at night, kiss me in the morning, late at night,” he sings.
Roddy brings his vision to life in the cinematic video, partly inspired by Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” In the X-directed clip, he rides a Ferris wheel before transporting to an ’80s dance party where guests are dressed as Salt-N-Pepa, Run-DMC, and Kiss. At the party, he meets his love interest, played by Karrueche Tran, before turning into a werewolf and chasing her down the street. But was it all a dream?
Roddy is now readying his next project, which could be Feed Tha Streets 3, the third installment in his acclaimed mixtape series which began in 2017.
“It’s from a different place,” he told Nick Cannon of his new music. “A lot done changed in life so I just felt like giving my fans just a transparent new set of life, more so where I’m at.”
In an interview with Complex, he added, “I want to bridge the gap between my old fans and my new fans. That’s what I’m on a mission to do with this next situation that I’m working on.”
This marks the second solo release from Roddy this year. Following the Grammys in March, he dropped “Heartless (Live From L.A.).”
