Future is on a new level.
The dapper rapper is known for his designer drip, but his latest purchase has everyone talking. Hndrxx stepped out in a custom pair of Birkenstock sandals that cost over $36,000. The “Birkinstocks” were made from a $48,000 deconstructed Hermès Birkin Porosus bag with gold vermeil buckles and actual Birkenstock cork soles.
Pluto showed off the lavish footwear on Instagram, donning a floor-length fur coat while sporting the crocodile kicks over white socks. “If u see me fighting a crocodile help the crocodile #BIRKĪNSTOCK,” he captioned his photos.
According to The New York Times, the “most exclusive sandal ever made” was created by Brooklyn collective MSCHF, and range between $34,000 to $76,000, depending on size.
The shoes, which have not been approved by Hermès nor Birkenstock, are made to order and available while supplies last. MSCHF bought four Birkin bags for about $122,500 and used them as raw material. Three pairs of the shoes have already been sold to Future, Kehlani, and an unnamed art collector. MSCHF plans to keep one for itself, with four to six pairs remaining.
The Birkin, which was created by Hermès in 1984, is known for holding its value. The pricey bags take a minimum of 18 hours to make, and there are waiting lists in Hermès boutiques for them. Future’s “Life Is Good” collaborator Drake has multiple shelves devoted to Birkins, which he collects for his future wife, while Cardi and Offset bought their daughter Kulture a pink Birkin for her 2nd birthday.
