YFN Lucci surrendered to police Wednesday (Jan. 13) and faces a murder charge in connection to a deadly shooting last month.
The 29-year-old rapper, whose real name is Rayshawn Bennett, is currently being held in Fulton County Jail, Atlanta police tell CNN. Earlier in the week, he was wanted on charges of felony murder, aggravated assault, participation in street gang activity, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
“The presumption of innocence is a fundamental constitutional right for every citizen. Beyond this, we have no further comment at this time,” his attorney Thomas Reynolds told CNN.
James Adams, 28, died after he was found lying in the street with a gunshot wound to his face during the Dec. 10 shootout in southwest Atlanta. A second victim, Kevin Wright, 32, arrived a short time later at a nearby fire station with a non-fatal gunshot wound to the abdomen.
In addition to Lucci, two other men, 23-year-old Ra’von Boyd and 17-year-old Leroy Pitts, have been arrested and booked for felony murder in Miami for their alleged roles in the shooting.
A 911 call led to the felony murder warrant for Lucci’s arrest. TMZ has obtained audio of the call a woman made in Atlanta last month when she saw a white SUV speeding by “with a man hanging out of the car.” She witnessed the man get shoved onto the street with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head. She tried to get an ambulance to the location, but he died moments later.
Atlanta police were offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to YFN Lucci’s arrest and indictment.
