President Barack Obama is back with another playlist.
In celebration of his new book A Promised Land, the 44th President of the United States has unveiled a personally curated playlist that reflects his time in office and features songs from the book, which hits stores tomorrow.
The 20-track collection includes Beyoncé’s “Halo” as well as her rendition of Etta James “At Last,” which she performed during Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama’s first dance at the 2009 Inaugural Ball.
Other selections include JAY-Z’s “My 1st Song” off 2003’s Black Album and Eminem’s anthemic “Lose Yourself,” which was most recently used in a campaign ad for President-elect Joe Biden. POTUS also pays homage to the First Lady with The Beatles’ “Michelle” and his “musical hero” Stevie Wonder, whose “Signed Sealed Delivered” became an anthem for the Obama campaign during the 2008 primaries.
Taking to social media, Obama shared his playlist while reflecting on its significance. “Music has always played an important role in my life–and that was especially true during my presidency,” he wrote. “In honor of my book hitting shelves tomorrow, I put together this playlist featuring some memorable songs from my administration. Hope you enjoy it.”
In August, Obama revealed his annual summer playlist featuring Drake, Rihanna, Megan Thee Stallion, Frank Ocean, Mac Miller, and more.
