Trey Songz is going in “Circles.”
The R&B crooner drops off his new single, an ode to love that endures through time. “If you’re looking for closure, don’t take your clothes off / No matter how hard we try, we can’t say it’s over / We going in circles,” he sings. “We just gon’ do this over and over again.”
The video is a celebration of Black love at different stages in life, while also paying homage to the Black Lives Matter movement. In one intense scene, a young Black couple is pulled over by a white police officer.
“Circles” arrives ahead of Trey’s 8th studio album, Back Home, his first full-length release in over three years. In April, he dropped the title track featuring Summer Walker.
“I wanna make the kind of R&B that inspired me to sing. The songs that makes you love, the ones that make cry and the ones that make you smile, laugh and dance,” said Trey. “Music is the soundtrack that plays while we live our lives, and I wanna be there for my fans while they are living through this truly special time that we’ll never forget. I say I’m Back Home because the music feels that way. I hope you feel the same.”
