The Bawse is back.
Fresh off his Verzuz battle with 2 Chainz on Thursday night, Rick Ross unleashes his new single “Pinned to the Cross.” The Maybach Music boss reflects on the times on the powerful track, which features 20-year-old singer Finn Matthews.
Over the soul-stirring instrumental, produced by Fuse of 808 Mafia and AraabMuzik, Rozay speaks on the social injustice and Black experience in America.
“I say to young Black men / You’re now livin’ in a state of public emergency / Middle class and poor people being targeted every day / Dealing with so much hostility, negative socialism,” he says. “I refuse to be petrified / And there’s no mercy for the rivals.”
He also references Karens (“I’m watching for Karen, she watching bird watchers”) and takes shots at Terry Crews (“Terry Crews is another coon who was basically bought”) and Dr. Dre’s wife, who recently filed for divorce. “Soon as Dre hit the roof, she filed for divorce,” he raps.
Last month, Ross teamed up with August Alsina on the Jada Pinkett Smith-inspired “Entanglements.”
