Bobby Shmurda is coming home, just not today.

While fans anxiously await his return, the Brooklyn rapper’s mother has provided an update on her son’s parole hearing. In a statement to The Shade Room, Leslie Pollard revealed that a hearing is scheduled for Aug. 18, and she is hopeful that things will go well.

“The parole hearing is scheduled for August 18th,” she said. “We [are] very confident that things will go well, and as always we know God will see us through, he always does.”

It was rumored that Shmurda’s hearing was scheduled for today and that he could potentially be released. He is serving time at New York’s Clinton Correctional Facility after pleading guilty to one count of third-degree conspiracy and one count of weapons possession. He was sentenced to seven years in 2016, but is expected to be released early due to time served. His mother previously said that her son would be released in December 2020.

Shmurda is already planning his return. He is reportedly readying new music with surprise guests as part of his deal with Epic Records. “The who’s I am not at liberty speak on, but what I can say is that there will be a very strong come back and the people won’t be disappointed,” added Pollard. “There are so many surprises in store.”

Meanwhile, he continues to receive support from the hip-hop community. “The industry as a whole has been supportive throughout this journey, and everyone has checked in at one time or another. We greatly appreciate the support,” she said. “As for names I won’t [be able to name them] off of the top of my head, as I wouldn’t want to leave anyone out.”

Taking to Instagram, Mama Shmurda also penned a heartfelt tribute to her son on his 26th birthday. “This guy is overloaded with everything he has so much Personality and Talent,” she said. “My boy is Caring, Sharing, Sweet, Loving, Loyal Energetic, Empathetic and Brave he is such a unique person. I often look at this kid and just smile as a know it took two very special people to produce such a Gem and with alllllllllllllllllllll that Mr. CHEWY had put me through I wouldn’t trade my baby for the world.”
