Drake is nearing the finish line on his new album.
While fans anxiously await the 6 God’s sixth album, a member of his OVO crew has provided an update on the status. Taking to Instagram Tuesday, engineer/producer OVO Noel shared a photo of a studio console and revealed that Drake is “90%” done with the project.
“Studio for my bday…we 90% but y’all gonna have to wait on that last 10%,” he wrote in the caption.
Drake also wished OVO Noel for his birthday. “Working on the bday like usual… @ovonoel,” he captioned his IG Story.
Earlier this month, Drake himself said he was “80%” done with the follow-up to 2018’s Scorpion, which he previously said would arrive this summer. “My 6th STUDIO ALBUM DROPPING SUMMER 2020!!! Lucky number 6 😈 soon fwd,” he told fans in May.
Drake previously revealed that the project would be shorter than Scorpion, which had 25 songs. “This album, I’ll probably make it a more realistic offering, something more concise,” he said.
Several new Drake tracks have leaked including “Lie to Me” and “In the Cut” featuring Roddy Ricch, but it’s unclear if any of them will make the album.
Just this week, Drake made history with “Popstar” and “Greece,” his collaborations with DJ Khaled, which became his 39th and 40th top 10s on the Billboard Hot 100. He now passes Madonna for the most Hot 100 top 10 entries ever.
Drake returned to Toronto after a trip to Barbados, where he rented a yacht and met up with friends including Popcaan.
