“Toosie Slide” is breaking all sorts of records.
After becoming the first male artist to have three No. 1 debuts on the Billboard Hot 100, Drake has made TikTok history. The #ToosieSlide hashtag hit 1 billion views in just two days on the social networking app, breaking the record previously held by Kylie Jenner.
According to TMZ, “Toosie Slide” becomes the fastest music trend to reach a billion views on TikTok and continues to dominate the platform, with over 3 billion views and counting.
The numbers represent how many times people have viewed #ToosieSlide-related content. Drake’s chart-topping hit has inspired countless recreations of the dance challenge from fans and celebrities including Justin Bieber, Ciara, Chance the Rapper, and LeBron James, who have all taken part in the #ToosieSlide challenge.
The record was previously held by Jenner’s “rise and shine” meme, which was the fastest-growing TikTok trend back in October with a billion views. Drake hit the billion benchmark even quicker than the beauty mogul.
“Toosie Slide” is also dominating the charts. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, earning Drake his seventh No. 1 on the chart. Drake became the first male artist to have three No. 1 debuts on the Hot 100. He joins Mariah Carey, who achieved three No. 1 debuts on the Hot 100 from 1995-1997.
He celebrated by thanking social media influencer Toosie for inspiring the lyrics. “From the chat to the charts,” Champagne Papi wrote on Instagram. “BILLBOARD DEBUT #1 on a warm up ting.”
