Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds is the latest star to test positive for coronavirus.
The legendary singer-songwriter revealed the “scary” diagnosis to fans on Instagram on his 62nd birthday on Friday (April 10). Not only did he test positive for the deadly COVID-19, but so did his family. “I feel so blessed to be able to celebrate another birthday,” wrote Babyface. “I tested positive for the Covidl9 virus, as did my family. But they are now negative and well on their way to making a full recovery. “I’m happy to report we have now tested negative and are on our way back to full health,” he added.
He received support and well wishes from friends including Timbaland, L.A. Reid, and Jermaine Dupri.
Babyface is wasting no time getting back to work. He will face off against Teddy Riley during a beat battle organized by Timbaland and Swizz Beatz, which is scheduled for Saturday, April 18 at 9 p.m. EST on Instagram Live.
“I would like to officially accept the invitation from the legendary Swizz Beatz & Timbaland to participate with my little brother, Teddy Riley in what I’d like to call a Celebration of Black Music Excellence in – Teddy vs. Babyface,” he said.
He promised fans a “night of groove and love” amid the quarantine. “Ladies… put on your red dress…light the candles, pour some wine, and don’t forget to bring your dancing shoes.”
