The wait for Lil Wayne’s Funeral may almost be over.
The Young Money boss is eyeing a February release date for his long-awaited album. A fan messaged Wayne on Instagram asking for an update on the project and Wayne actually responded. “Feb my G,” he wrote (via Lil Wayne HQ).
Weezy recently joined Lil Baby on what appears to be a video set. Earlier this year, Wayne revealed that they had collaborated on a song called “I Do It” for Funeral.
“I’m a big Lil Baby fan,” Tunechi told XXL. “I loved his voice at first and it kinda reminded me of me when I was younger. And then his melodies and stuff started getting at me. And then I started actually listening to what he’s saying and he talk about the struggle a lot and he’s talking about some real stuff.”
He has also been in the studio with Big Sean and London On Da Track for Funeral, which will have a more current feel. “With me, what the new thing is for me is actually trying to put out music that sounds like a little more like today’s music,” explained Wayne.
Funeral, which follows 2018’s Tha Carter V, was first announced in 2016. In August, he revealed that the album was complete and was slated for release by the end of 2019.
