Fresh off his three Grammy nominations, Roddy Ricch links up with A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie on “Tip Toe.”
The Compton rapper and Highbridge spitter show out while trading boastful verses over the trap-inspired slapper. Roddy brings his vision to life in the companion video, directed by Christian Breslauer.
Speaking to Apple Music’s Beats 1, he opened up about collaborating with his Atlantic labelmate. “When we first met each other it was just more so just conversation to understand where each other was from, understanding his perspective on how he was raised and what he was brought up doing,” said Roddy, “and he just got to hear a little bit of what I got into and we just had a bond over that.”
Last week, Roddy received his first three Grammy nominations for Best Rap Performance (“Racks in the Middle”), Best Rap Song (“Racks in the Middle”), and Best Rap/Sung Performance (“Ballin”). He celebrated with a halftime performance at the L.A. Clippers game last Friday.
“Tip Toe” follows the Gunna-assisted “Start Wit Me” off Roddy’s major-label debut album, Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial, which drops Dec. 6 featuring collaborations with Meek Mill and Ty Dolla $ign.
