Kanye still has his eye on the White House.
The Jesus Is King rapper has reaffirmed his plans to run for president in 2024. While speaking at the Fast Company Innovation Festival on Thursday (via TMZ), West told the crowd that he still intends to make a bid for the Oval House.
“When I run for president in 2024, we gonna definitely…” he said before being interrupted by laughter from the crowd. “What y’all laughing for?” a serious Ye asked before continuing.
“When I run for president in 2024, we would’ve created so many jobs that I’m not gonna run, I’m gonna walk,” he said.
He also brought up his frustration over Forbes calling him a “centimillionaire” instead of a billionaire. Kanye said that he might legally change his name to “Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West” for a year “until y’all understand exactly what it is.”
During the conversation, Kanye also spoke about empowering the black community. “They don’t want us to know that we can buy land,” he added. “They don’t want us to have the 100 percent ownership. I have 100 percent ownership at Yeezy. And the reason that I say these things out loud is so that I won’t be killed. But last year I was killed by the press for having an opinion.”
Kanye first announced his plans to run for president in 2020 while on stage at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards. He later changed it to 2024. “When we become president we have to change the name of the plane from Air Force one to Yeezy force one…yes I said we,” he tweeted.
