50 Cent is getting into character.
The rapper-actor has gained 15 pounds for his role in the upcoming legal drama For Life. Taking to Instagram, he showed off his new look in the first photos of himself on set, clad in a red prison jumpsuit while standing in front of a barbed-wire fence.
“My New ABC show is intense,I filmed yesterday I’m still bugging 🤦♂️ I gained 15 pounds for this role,” said 50.
According to Variety, the show was inspired by the life of Isaac Wright, Jr. about a prisoner-turned-lawyer who litigates cases for other inmates while fighting to overturn his own life sentence for a crime he didn’t commit.
In addition to his on-camera role, Curtis Jackson will executive produce the hour-long drama series, along with Isaac Wright Jr., Doug Robinson, and Alison Greenspan. Hank Steinberg (“Without a Trace”) is writer and executive producer on the project.
Meanwhile, 50 continues his foray into television. His hit show “Power” is currently wrapping its sixth and final season on Starz. He is also developing a spinoff, “Power Book 2: Ghost,” starring Mary J. Blige and may even be plotting a biopic based on 6ix9ine’s life story.
For Life is set to premiere following the Oscars on Feb. 23 on ABC.
