Nearly two years since releasing her breakout debut FEELS, Snoh Aalegra returns with the sequel – Ugh, those feels again.

The album, which was executive produced by No I.D., features 14 R&B-driven tracks which pull inspiration from her idols, including Prince, Stevie Wonder, and Michael Jackson, as well as her experiences as a Swedish woman of Iranian descent who is coming into her own.

Unlike FEELS, which she describes as “more emo,” the sequel has a more upbeat tone. “I would say the first half is a little more happy and then the B-side, the second half of the album, goes back to the old FEELS a little,” she told Ebro on Beats 1.

It’s been a long journey for the 31-year-old singer-songwriter, who was only 18 when she released her first album. “It’s shaped me a lot and given me thicker skin and I really appreciate everything good that’s coming for me,” she said. “And I’m happy that I didn’t make it when I was 18 ’cause I probably wasn’t ready for it then. I would maybe lose my head.”

– Ugh has already earned praise from fans and critics alike. “Ugh is a ‘real album,’ with a unified yet ever-changing sound and vibe,” wrote Variety.
