H.E.R. celebrates her youth on her latest song “21.”
On the coming-of-age track, the Grammy-winning songstress reflects on her success and experiences over the past year.
“Everybody not made for this life / I wouldn’t trade it for the world,” she sings. “I’m 21 now, oh I’m 21 / Everybody wanna be my guy / And my girl too / I wouldn’t trade it for the world.”
H.E.R., who turned 22 last month, revealed the inspiration behind “21.” “I wrote this song when I turned 21. It was one of the best years of my life!” she said. “I’m experiencing all the things I prayed for as a kid and more. The scary part is, it’s just the beginning.”
The celebratory video, which debuts at 1:30 p.m. today, showcases the whirlwind year H.E.R. experienced as a 21 year-old while inspiring others to pursue their dreams.
“21” follows the YBN Cordae-assisted “Racks,” which debuted last month.
