The Big Day is here.
Three mixtapes and three Grammys later, Chance the Rapper finally delivers his highly-anticipated debut album. The 22 tracks are full of surprise guests, including two appearances from Nicki Minaj (“Slide Around” and Zanies and Fools”) and Shawn Mendes on “Ballin Flossin,” which samples Brandy’s “I Wanna Be Down.”
Other collaborations include Megan Thee Stallion on the Pink Sweat$-sampled “Handsome,” John Legend (“All Day Long”), DaBaby (“Hot Shower”), Gucci Mane (“Big Fish”), Randy Newman (“5 Year Plan”), SWV (“Found a Good One”), En Vogue (“I Got You (Always and Forever)”), Lil Durk (“Slide Around”), and Chance’s brother Taylor Bennett (“Roo”). Production comes courtesy of Timbaland, Pi’erre Bourne, TrapMoneyBenny, Murda Beatz, and Peter Cottontale.
This is the first time Chance has sold his music, which was previously available for free on streaming services. Last month, he released his cult classic mixtapes, 2012’s 10 Day and 2013’s Acid Rap, to streaming services for the first time.
The Big Day follows 2016’s Coloring Book, which won Best Rap Album at the 2017 Grammys.
