Five years since the release of her debut The New Classic, Iggy Azalea is back with her sophomore album In My Defense.
The project, her first since going independent, marks a return to her mixtape roots. Leading up to the release, Iggy dropped several tracks and visuals including “Sally Walker,” “Started,” and “Just Wanna.” The 12-track set, which she describes as “aggressive but fun and high-energy,” also features appearances from Lil Yachty (“Hoemita”), Kash Doll (“F**k It Up”), Stini (“Big Bag”), and Juicy J (“Freak of the Week”).
Speaking with Nick Cannon on Power 106, the Aussie rapper opened up about the title. “When you’re a person that’s in the spotlight, a lot of the times just your day-to-day life is you defending yourself, especially on the internet,” she said. “So for me this album is just, In My Defense, if I had a platform to say everything that I wanted to say, this is what I would say in the conversation.”
Iggy will celebrate the album’s release with shows in Los Angeles tonight and New York on July 24.
