Seventeen years after the release of the original Lost Tapes, Nas is set to return with the highly-anticipated sequel.
Before The Lost Tapes 2 drops next Friday (July 19), the rap icon delivers one of the 16 songs off the project, “Jarreau of Rap (Skatt Attack).” Produced by Xharlie Black, the jazz-inspired track features the late Al Jarreau and trumpeter Keyon Harrold.
The Lost Tapes 2 contains unreleased tracks from Nas’ previously released studio albums including 2006’s Hip-Hop Is Dead, 2008’s Untitled, 2012’s Life Is Good, and 2018’s Nasir, with production from Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Swizz Beatz, RZA, No I.D., Hit-Boy, Pete Rock, and more.
Nas will appear on “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah” on July 16 and has launched a Lost Tapes 2 merch collection in collaboration with Aimé Leon Dore.
Last night, he and Mary J. Blige kicked off their co-headlining “Royalty Tour.” The North American trek will travel to Atlanta, Houston, Las Vegas, Boston, and more through September.
