Cardi B is clapping back at her pressed critics over songwriting claims.
On Thursday (June 6), the Grammy-winning rapper took to Twitter to address reports that she doesn’t write her own lyrics.
In response to one commenter who questioned why Cardi was included on Billboard’s Top 100 Songwriters of 2018, Kulture’s mother defended herself. “Because I do write a lot of my shit that’s the thing,” she tweeted.
The 26-year-old rapper admitted that she has co-writers, but still writes herself, including on her debut album Invasion of Privacy and Gangsta Bitch Music mixtapes. “Yes just like every other artist I do have a couple writer that help with hooks but I wrote plenty of songs on my album specially my mixtape,” added Cardi.
She ended it with a message for her haters: “Ya just flip shit and ya want to believe the fuck shit so bad but EAT IT UP BITCH!”
Cardi is credited as the sole writer of her latest single “Press,” which dropped last month. She is now gearing up to release her highly-anticipated sophomore album later this year.
On June 23, Cardi will perform at the 2019 BET Awards, where she is nominated for seven awards, including Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, Video of the Year, and Album of the Year.
