YNW Melly is currently facing life in prison or possibly the death penalty in his double-murder trial.

Despite the serious allegations that he murdered his two friends, YNW Sakchaser and YNW Juvy, the “Murder on My Mind” rapper is hopeful that he will be “coming home” from jail.

During a nearly 22-minute phone call to his management team, which was posted on his Instagram page, Melly spoke to his fans from behind bars. “Melly shared a message for his fans,” wrote his team. “He appreciates all of your prayers and positive energy being sent his way.”

“I just want to let all my fans know that God is real,” says Melly (via Complex). “He has cleansed my soul, he has blessed me tremendously. […] He’s the reason I’m coming home.”

Some parts of the call are indecipherable due to the bad connection, but Melly goes on to thanks his fans for their support. “I love y’all so much,” he says. “I thank God for all y’all every day. Thank y’all for keeping me in your prayers.”

In February, the 19-year-old Florida rapper was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder stemming from the October 2018 shooting of his friends, Anthony Williams (YNW Sakchaser) and Christopher Thomas Jr. (YNW Juvy), near Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Cops say Melly and his friend Cortlen Henry (YNW Bortlen) shot the men and staged the crime to make it seem like their friends were killed during a drive-by shooting.

The State of Florida reportedly intends to seek the death penalty against Melly, who will remain in Broward County jail until a trial date has been set.
