Remy Ma is in custody in connection with an alleged attack on her VH1 co-star Brittney Taylor.
The rapper turned herself in to police at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday (May 1), law enforcement sources tell TMZ. She was charged with third-degree assault.
Taylor, who stars alongside Remy on “Love & Hip Hop: New York,” claims Remy punched her in the right eye while backstage during the “Pretty Lou Benefit Concert” at Irving Plaza in New York on April 16. She suffered bruising and swelling and sought treatment at Mount Sinai Hospital. She later posted a picture of her black eye on Instagram.
“This arrest demonstrates how serious this matter is,” Taylor’s attorney, Sanford Rubenstein, told ABC 13. “It is real life and not reality TV entertainment. The victim, Brittney Taylor, has confidence in our system of justice and will continue to fully cooperate with the authorities.”
Taylor is also planning to file a civil suit against Remy and has requested that cops preserve all evidence of the alleged assault, including surveillance footage.
Remy previously served six years in prison for the 2007 shooting of her friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph.
