Offset has been charged following his arrest in Georgia last summer.
The Clayton County District Attorney’s Office filed three charges against the Migos rapper in February following an incident in July 2018 where he was arrested for allegedly making an illegal lane change.
According to TMZ, Offset faces a felony charge for firearms possession by a convicted felon, along with misdemeanor charges for marijuana possession and an improper lane change.
A felony charge of possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime has been dropped. Offset pleaded not guilty last month and is scheduled to appear in court in May.
Offset’s lawyer, Drew Findling, believes the rapper was targeted because he’s rich, successful, and black. “It’s a common theme. We’re talking about a young, African-American man driving a shiny, beautiful luxury car and clad in designer clothes and watches and jewelry,” Findling previously told TMZ. “Unfortunately people in his genre become a target for law enforcement who think that lifestyle is connected to some illegal activity … and that is a sad statement.”
