Kehlani is officially a mom.
The Oakland songstress welcomed her first child, a baby girl named Adeya Nomi, over the weekend. Taking to Instagram, she revealed that she delivered her daughter via an “unmedicated home birth.”
“This weekend our angel arrived healthy & perfect in every way in our bathroom at home,” she wrote alongside a photo of a baby blanket. “unmedicated homebirth was the absolute hardest yet most powerful thing i’ve ever done. thankful beyond words. in love beyond comparison.”
She also tagged Adeya’s father, Javie Young-White, and Partera Midwifery, who helped with the home birth.
The new mom went on to thank her family and friends for all their well wishes. “refraining from posting to be family and rest, we just wanted to say thank you to everyone who sent well wishes, love, and support in all forms while waiting & working to bring Adeya earthside.”
In October, Kehlani announced that she was pregnant with her first child and shared her plans for a home birth. “This is weird but I’m like really excited to birth,” she told Beats 1’s Zane Lowe. “The entire process of being in extreme pain, but also extreme beauty, is very ceremonious to me.”
In January, Kehlani celebrated her baby shower with friends including SZA, Zendaya, and Lauren Jauregui. “what a beautiful shower. i’m in awe of all the love we got,” said Kehlani. “every second of today was perfect. thank you God. thank you Yaya. you are perfect.”
Prior to welcoming Adeya, the singer delivered her new mixtape While We Wait featuring Ty Dolla $ign, 6LACK, and Dom Kennedy.
