Two years since his breakout debut American Teen, Khalid is set to release the follow-up Free Spirit.

The R&B crooner’s sophomore album will arrive April 5, he announced on social media. A pre-order will be available starting March 7. He also revealed the cover art, which finds him standing on top of a van in the desert.

Earlier this month, Khalid dropped the lead single “Talk,” produced by Disclosure. He has also shared a teaser of a new song called “My Bad.”

“This album is the culmination of all of the growth and experiences I have gathered over the past two remarkable years,” said Khalid. “I have been in the studio pouring my soul and spirit to create a body of work that I hope speaks to each and every one of you.”

In celebration of the album release, Khalid will premiere a companion film of the same name. Directed by Emil Nava, Free Spirit will be screened at theaters worldwide on April 3, two days before the album release. A special one-night-only fan event will include an early listening of the album.

Free Spirit follows 2017’s American Teen, which was certified platinum and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album.

In October, Khalid dropped his Suncity EP featuring the single “Better.” He will perform on the March 9 episode of “SNL.”
