As he gears up for his new album, T-Pain teams up with O.T. Genasis on his new single “A Million Times.”
On the bounce-driven bop, Teddy P. supplies his Auto-Tuned melodies over hip-hop drums, while O.T. puts it down with a West Coast-flavored verse.
Speaking with Ebro Darden on Beats 1, T-Pain opened up about the collaboration. “I pretty much made the record and I mean literally everybody that came through the studio was like, ‘Dude, you’ve gotta put O.T. Genasis on this record,'” he said. “It just sounded, to me it was real future bass-y, so you know, I was cool with it. But then when people were saying that sounds super West Coast, I was like, ‘Oh well, O.T. for sure, no question.'”
His upcoming album 1UP, which he recorded out of his Florida home, was inspired by his love for video games. “I’m an avid gamer. I’ve been a gamer pretty much all my life,” said T-Pain. “So I’m starting to implement gaming into my music and to my themes and stuff like that. So, 1UP is basically the green mushroom from Mario, everybody know when you get a 1UP, you get a 1UP, you get an extra life and you get another chance to beat the game.”
Next up, T-Pain will embark on his “1UP” tour, beginning March 16 in San Antonio. The 15-date trek travels across the U.S. before wrapping April 9 in San Diego.
