YNW Melly has been arrested and charged in the double murder of two of his friends.

The Florida rapper, whose real name is Jamell Demons, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder stemming from the Oct. 26, 2018 shooting of Anthony Williams (YNW Sakchaser) and Christopher Thomas Jr. (YNW Juvy) near Fort Lauderdale. Cortlen Henry was also arrested in connection with the killings.

According to the Miramar Police Department, Demons and Henry shot the men and staged the crime to make it seem like Williams and Thomas Jr. were killed during a drive-by shooting. Williams and Thomas were taken in a Jeep to Memorial Hospital Miramar emergency room, where they were pronounced dead.

The police believe Demons shot the two men, while Henry drove the car. According to TMZ, forensic evidence linked the two men to the crime.

Prior to turning himself in, YNW took to Instagram to address his fans. “To all my fans and supporters no I did not get locked up in Washington , but I am turning myself in today I want you guys to know I love you and appreciate every single one of y’all,” he wrote. “A couple months ago I lost my two brothers by violence and now the system want to find justice.. unfortunately a lot of rumors and lies are being said but no worries god is with me and my brother @ynw.bortlen.”

Melly broke onto the scene with his gold-certified single “Murder on My Mind.” Last month, he dropped his latest EP We All Shine featuring the Kanye West-assisted single “Mixed Personalities.”
