Sam Smith and Normani unite on their highly-anticipated collaboration “Dancing With a Stranger.”

The British crooner and former Fifth Harmony songstress show off their chemistry on the sultry ’80s-inspired duet, which came together after a chance encounter at the studio in Los Angeles where Sam was writing the song with Stargate and Jimmy Napes. Normani happened to be in the studio next door and the two decided to collaborate after being longtime fans of one another.

“Look what you made me do / I’m with somebody new / Oh, baby, baby, I’m dancing with a stranger,” they sing over the R&B-infused production.

“I’m so excited for everyone to hear ‘Dancing With a Stranger,’ which I wrote on ‘The Thrill Of It All’ tour last year,” said Smith. “For me it bottles everything I was feeling whilst juggling my personal life and touring. It is also such a beautiful moment for me as I’m a huge, huge fan of Normani and everything she is. I’m so excited to watch her light shine. I hope everyone enjoys hearing this song as much as I do.”

Normani added, “I’m truly blessed having the opportunity to create with one of the greatest vocalists of this decade. I think about the artists that I frequently listen to daily and Sam Smith has definitely been one of them for some time now. I never thought in a trillion years that I would be able to state that I have a record with this extremely gifted being.”

Since launching her solo career, Normani has collaborated with Khalid (“Love Lies”), 6LACK (“Waves”), Calvin Harris (“Checklist” and “Slow Down”), and more. She is now readying her debut solo album and will join Ariana Grande on the North American leg of “The Sweetener World Tour” in March.
