Juelz Santana has been sentenced to 27 months behind bars for attempting to bring a loaded gun on a flight.

On Wednesday (Dec. 19), a federal judge in Newark, NJ handed down the sentence. The rapper, 36, will be under supervised release for 12 months after he completes his time.

Santana was arrested in March after a .38-caliber handgun and eight oxycodone pills were discovered in his carry-on luggage at Newark International Airport. After Transportation Security Administration agents found the weapon during an X-ray screening, he fled the scene, but later turned himself in to authorities.

Santana, who has previous felony convictions, pled guilty to unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. It’s not known when he will be required to surrender and start serving his sentence.

On a recent episode of “Love & Hip Hop: New York,” Santana predicted his fate that he would receive between 27 to 37 months for the crime.
