Kevin Gates is putting numbers on the board.

As he gears up for his new mixtape Luca Brasi 3, the Baton Rouge rapper counts it up on his latest release “Adding Up.” “Oh, he say he thuggin’ / Well, that shit ain’t adding up,” he raps. “I’ma keep on flexin ’cause these ni**as ain’t mad enough / Bitch, I’m never going broke / Shit, my money keep adding up.”

During an interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1, he opened up about his first mixtape since his release from prison in January. “I’ve been gone a year-and-a-half, so it’s a lot of things that I didn’t really speak on that I get to speak on now,” he said. “And there’s a lot of things on Luca Brasi 1 and 2 I couldn’t speak about because I was dealing with it at the time.”

Luca Brasi 3, the third installment in Gates’ Luca Brasi series, arrives Sept. 27. The mixtape has already spawned a trio of tracks including “Me Too,” “Money Long,” and “Great Man.”

After dealing with court cases and serving time behind bars, Gates says he’s finally in a good space. “This is my first time truly being free,” he said. “I always had something over my head, I always was fighting the court case, I always had a warrant or something pending. This is my first time truly being free. This is my first time truly enjoying life for the first time. And I’ve been taking it slow and I’ve been enjoying the simplest things.”

Following the project’s release, Gates will hit the road on his “Luc Brasi 3 Tour,” which kicks off Oct. 2 in Austin, Texas, and runs through Nov. 3 in Wichita, Kansas.
