ScHoolboy Q is wrapping up his next album.
According to Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, Groovy Q is “90 to 95 % done” with the follow-up to 2016’s Blank Face LP, the Top Dawg Entertainment CEO told a fan on Twitter.
Last September, Q took to Instagram to reveal that the album was nearing completion. “I said once my album 90% done I was going back 2 da gym,” he wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post. “well I’m back!!!”
But according to Tiffith, that wasn’t the case. When a fan addressed those comments, he responded, “Fake News.”
Last year, Q told Beats 1 that the album would showcase a “different side” of the South Central rapper. “This is more so my life after I made it to the point of ScHoolboy Q,” he said. “I gave you me [on past projects], but I never gave you the other side of me, the father, the dude that’s actually happy, the dude that doesn’t be in the hood just hanging out, the dude that’s trying to put his homies in position now.”
Q’s last album, Blank Face LP, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and featured guests including Kanye West, Anderson .Paak, and Jadakiss.
