Azealia Banks has reignited her feud with Nicki Minaj.
The controversial rapper has fired off a series of insults after seeing a preview of Nicki’s music video for “Bed,” in which she is dressed as a mermaid. Azealia, who appeared as a mermaid on the illustrated cover of her 2012 mixtape Fantasea, accused her of stealing her concept.
“Chicken of the sea sis. Stay in your own lane. @nickiminaj lol you running out of ideas girl,” she captioned a photo of Minaj dressed as a mermaid.
The disses continued on Twitter. “Why does nicki Minaj have to be so damn corny . Like sometimes it’s just like sis !!!!! Find some art !!! Please !!” she wrote, adding, “She just knows I’m gonna outshine her so I should stop playing humble and really come to slay these bitches lol. It’s no shade to me it’s just the game lol.”
It was all good last September when Azealia apologized to Nicki for dissing her in the past. “I want to apologize for whatever catty shit I’ve said to and or about you in the past,” she wrote, while praising Minaj’s “artistry” and “brilliant art mind.”
Banks also vowed not to insult Minaj again. “You have my word,” she said. “From here on out, I will never say any negative or catty things about you ever again.”
She also attempted to secure a feature from Nicki on her single “Anna Wintour,” but the collaboration never materialized. In response to the failed attempt, she told a fan, “I didn’t know how successful Anna Wintour would be. I thought I needed the feature then. But Anna did her thing!! So I’m good now , enjoy love.”
Azealia is now readying her new project Fantasea II: The Second Wave and singles “Treasure Island” and “Ain’t Know” featuring Nicki’s ex, Safaree Samuels. Meanwhile, Nicki’s full video for “Bed” featuring Ariana Grande premieres tomorrow.
