Exclusive: City Girls Share Love for Drake After 'Scorpion' Collaboration

  /  06.29.2018

Drake’s new album Scorpion arrived Thursday night featuring collaborations with Michael Jackson, JAY-Z, and City Girls. The 6 God samples the rising Florida duo’s debut single “Fu*k Dat Ni**a” on the standout “In My Feelings,” and also shouts them out by name.

JT (Jatavia Johnson) and Yung Miami (Caresha Brownlee) recently stopped by Rap-Up HQ to gush over their love for Drake, who followed them on social media.

“Growing up, I always been a Drake fan,” said JT, while Miami was still in shock that he knew who they were. “How did Drake know us? We just some random hood City Girls. How he heard our music? For him to just follow us, not even knowing he knew our music, it’s like people is really paying attention to us.”

Not only did Drake follow them, but he ended up putting them on his album. “That’s why Drake is still hot,” said JT. “He’s not grouchy. He been in the game for a long time, he’s a legend, but he still is hip with what’s new. I love Drake.”

The Drake co-sign is just the latest win for City Girls, who are signed to Quality Control Music alongside Migos, Lil Yachty, and more. “Fu*k Dat Ni**a” appears on Quality Control Presents: Control the Streets, Vol. 1 compilation. Last month, the duo dropped their debut album Period.
