Following Pusha-T, Kanye West, Kids See Ghosts, and Nas, Teyana Taylor caps off the weekly G.O.O.D. Music releases with her long-awaited sophomore album K.T.S.E. (Keep That Same Energy).
From the soulful “Issues/Hold On” to the ballroom bop “WTP,” the 27-year-old Harlem songstress comes into her own on the follow-up to her 2014 debut VII. Executive produced by Kanye, who also appears on “Hurry,” the 8-track set features contributions from Ty Dolla $ign (“3Way”), Rodney Jerkins (“3Way”), Mykki Blanco (“WTP”), BoogzDaBeast, and even Teyana’s daughter Junie (“Never Would Have Made It”).
Teyana premiered K.T.S.E. during a livestreamed listening party on the Universal Studios lot in Hollywood on Thursday (June 22). Kanye, Migos, Lil’ Kim, Meek Mill, Monica, and Iman Shumpert were among those in attendance as Universal’s “New York” set was transformed into Taylor’s native Harlem, with NYPD cars and street signs pointing to 141 Street and Lenox Avenue. She also unveiled her own line of merch, deisgned by Cali Thornhill DeWitt, which is now available online.
The album is ready earning rave reviews from Kim Kardashian and Bryson Tiller, who tweeted, “Teyana with the vocals! love this project.”
