Now that Pusha-T’s album Daytona is out, Kanye West is focusing on his own project as well as albums from Kid Cudi, Teyana Taylor, and Nas.
During an interview with Angie Martinez on Power 105.1, the G.O.O.D. Music president opened up about Nas’ first album in six years, which will also be executive produced by Kanye.
“Nas sounds like 2028 Nas,” said Pusha. “With Nas particularly, ‘Ye is such a fan that he can pull all the greatest moments in seven songs, and update that energy. He knows how to harness that energy, update that energy beat-wise, and Nas just gets to be him.”
Pusha has been around Nas while they were recording in Wyoming, but they have not collaborated. The follow-up to Nas’ 2012 album Life Is Good will feature seven tracks, one of which may be called “Everything,” according to a preliminary tracklisting.
“I feel like im 18 year old again when I make beats for Nas,” Kanye tweeted last month.
Nas’ long-awaited album arrives June 15. Kanye’s own album is still scheduled to drop June 1, followed by his joint album with Kid Cudi, Kids See Ghosts (June 8). Teyana Taylor’s second album, also executive produced by West, will follow Nas on June 22.
