Ariana Grande rises up in the stunning video for her empowering new single “No Tears Left to Cry.”
Directed by Dave Meyers (Missy Elliott, Kendrick Lamar), “No Tears” is a surreal aesthetic trip through a dreamlike world. Buildings shift the way they did in Christopher Nolan’s Inception. Grande defies gravity and reality throughout.
Whimsical elements accentuate Ariana’s celebratory singing. She dangles from ceilings, changes her face, and even falls from a dazzling building at night. Later, by sunrise, she continues to thrive in the visual wonderland that celebrates choreography and architecture.
“Right now I’m in a state of mind / I wanna be in like all the time,” she sings. “Ain’t got no tears left to cry / So I’m picking it up, picking it up / I’m loving, I’m living, I’m picking it up.”
“No Tears” is the lead single off Ariana’s upcoming fourth album, the follow-up to 2016’s Dangerous Woman. It will be her first since the deadly Manchester concert bombing.
Sources also say this will be Grande’s most personal album to date. She enlisted Pharrell Williams and Max Martin on the production end and reportedly had a hand in writing every track.
