After sliding through with the “Powerglide,” Rae Sremmurd comes “CLOSE” on their new collaboration with Travis Scott, the latest release off their album SremmLife 3.
The soulful Mike WiLL Made-It and 30 Roc production, which Beats 1 host Zane Lowe calls his “favorite Rae Sremmurd record ever,” finds Swae Lee supplying a syrupy hook, while Slim Jxmmi provides the verses. “C-L-O-S-E, you’re too C-L-O-S-E to me,” sings Swae.
“Travis Scott did his thing for sure, man,” Jxmmi told Beats 1. “Swae Lee came through with the crazy melodies, then I came through with the crazy verse. ‘CLOSE’ is one of those songs, gave me like an ’80s vibe.”
Rae Sremmurd has recorded over 1,000 songs for their triple album SremmLife 3, which will consist of Swae Lee’s Swaecation, Slim Jxmmi’s Jixmtroduction, and Rae Sremmurd’s SR3MM. In addition to Travis, the guest list includes The Weeknd, Future, Young Thug, and Zoë Kravitz.
So far, Swae has dropped two solo tracks, “Guatemala” and “Hurt to Look,” while Jxmmi has “Brxnks Truck” and “Chanel” featuring Pharrell.
