Did Drake sign a new deal with Apple Music? Industry experts say the OVO boss may have just renewed his partnership with the tech titan.
HITS Daily Double reports that a new deal may be in place due to OVOSOUND Radio’s return. Following a three-month break, the program returned to Apple Music on March 18. It even delivered an exclusive Drizzy remix of N.E.R.D and Rihanna’s “Lemon.” Plus, the show debuted Lil Pump’s star-studded “Gucci Gang” remix, which remained an Apple exclusive for several days.
This could be a new start for Drake and Apple. They originally started their partnership with a reported $19 million deal in 2015. Drizzy helped launch Apple Music that year and has since supplied exclusive projects, premieres, ads, visuals, and OVOSOUND Radio for the platform. Meanwhile, Drake became one of the most powerful forces in streaming, shattering Apple and Spotify records.
Last year, Drake said he wanted more from the partnership. “Somebody get Larry Jackson on the phone,” he rapped on Lil Wayne’s “Family Feud.” “I need some ownership if we pressin’ go / ‘Cause business is boomin’ on behalf of me / I need a bite out of the apple like Adam and Eve.”
Drake and Apple have yet to officially address their rumored new deal.
