Meek Mill Speaks Out From Behind Bars

  /  03.14.2018

Meek Mill made his voice heard at a Reform Philly rally that was held in his honor on Tuesday (March 13). Calling in from prison, the rapper addressed his fans and supporters in attendance at the rally, which included his lawyer Joe Tacopina, Rev. Al Sharpton, and Mill’s mother, who held up a banner with the rapper’s face on it.

“I appreciate all the love and support from Philadelphia and all over the world,” he said in a video of the call, which was streamed on TIDAL and re-published by TMZ. “I’m just happy to be able to shed light on the situation that we’ve been going through for years…If it takes me to be the one to bring the light to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and to the world, I accept it and I stand up to it.”

Mill also addressed his incarceration in a new profile in Rolling Stone, which outlines his grievances against Judge Genece Brinkley, who’s been overseeing his legal troubles for a decade.

Opening up about his incarceration, the Philadelphia rapper said he doesn’t want family members to visit him at this time. “I won’t let them come,” he explains. “If they see me like this – fucked-up beard, hair all ganked – then it’s like I’m really in here. Which I’m not.”

He went on to discuss his issues with the judge. “There’s brothers locked down that did nothing to be here but piss off people like Brinkley,” he said. “I want to speak on this system and what it does to black people – on both fucking sides of the fence.”

Finally, he revealed his plans. “Trust me,” he said. “I’m gonna say something about that. And then, I’m gonna move to Atlanta.”
