Apple Music Reveals Top 20 Women in Streaming

  /  03.08.2018

Who run the world? In honor of International Women’s Day, Apple Music has revealed the top 20 women in streaming, celebrating some of the most successful queens of the music game.

Rihanna reigns supreme, topping the impressive list of artists. Taylor Swift comes in second place, just in front of Beyoncé. These stats are particularly impressive since Bad Gal, T-Swift, and Queen Bey have all excluded their music from Apple at one point or another.

The top 10 continues with Ariana Grande, Adele, Sia, Lana Del Rey, Selena Gomez, SZA, and Lady Gaga. Further down the list are Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Halsey, Demi Lovato, and Fifth Harmony, before getting to Pink, Kehlani, Mariah Carey, Little Mix, and Miley Cyrus.

As part of the celebration, Apple Music has launched three playlists, including Essential Feminism, Who Runs the World, and Bold Women. The playlists highlight works by influential artists, including Nina Simone and Dolly Parton, and rising stars like Alessia Cara and Princess Nokia.

To keep this empowerment train running, Beats 1’s Julie Adenuga will host four weekly live shows about gender, sexuality, and more, starting today and airing Thursdays throughout March on Beats 1.
