SZA has plaques galore.
The Top Dawg Entertainment/RCA songstress’ debut album Ctrl has just earned a platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America.
That’s not all. Her singles “The Weekend” and the Travis Scott-assisted “Love Galore” have both gone 2x platinum, while “Garden (Say It Like Dat)” and the Obama-approved “Broken Clocks,” which recently brought her father to tears, have both been certified gold.
TDE CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith celebrated the milestone. “Platinum Platinum Platinum,” he wrote. “Congrats to our queen for putting together a great a album #Ctrl ….Thank you to our fans! Moving units in a major way… #TDE.”
SZA has been candid about her breakout debut, which earned her five Grammy nominations. “I didn’t even fuck with my own album, so I was so confused and almost, like, angry that everyone fucked with it so much,” she told The FADER. “It meant everything I felt about myself was wrong. And it was just like, ‘If that’s not the truth, then what is the truth?'”
