Saweetie, the rising California rapper behind “ICY GRL,” has signed with Warner Bros. Records.

The major-label deal brings her ICY imprint to Warner in partnership with Artistry Records. “You know you have something special when an artist immediately connects in the way Saweetie has,” said Warner COO & Co-Chairman Tom Corson. “Saweetie’s empowering lyrics, street-smart sensibilities, and flawless delivery have perfectly collided to make ‘ICY GRL’ a viral sensation and Saweetie an artist to champion.”

“ICY GRL” has become a viral smash with more than 10 million views on YouTube. It features a sample of Khia’s 2002 hit “My Neck, My Back (Lick It).”

“I remember listening to Khia’s song in my car,” Saweetie told Genius. “I write a lot of songs in my car. The song came on, and I was feeling it, and I was just freestyling over it, and I was like, ‘OK, I like this beat.’ So I went home, listened to it a couple times, and wanted something very motivational, very inspiring but something that I could vibe to. Nothing that’s super serious but something for motivational use.”

Saweetie, born Diamonté Harper, is also a model, who recently co-starred in Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty viral campaign. Musically, she’s remaining focused, working on her debut EP, which is set to arrive March 16 with production from No I.D., London On Da Track, Zaytoven, Da Internz, Cash Money AP, and JWhitedidit.
