Just in time for Valentine’s Day and NBA All-Star Weekend, Wale reflects on love and basketball with his latest release, “All Star Break Up.”

Accompanied by an acoustic guitar, Folarin waxes poetic about a heartbreaker who loves NBA players so much that she dumps her non-ballin’ boos right before the All-Star Game, which will take place this weekend in Los Angeles.

“You ever lost your main jawn to a point guard or a small forward?” he asks. “I don’t believe in Valentine’s. I find it funny. Cupid’s busiest day is four days before the All-Star [game].”

The track also features a reference to Rihanna’s massively successful cosmetics line. “I spend so much at Fendi / She know I’m cool with Robyn, she bother me for the Fenty.”

“All Star Break Up” comes about a month after Folarin teased a forthcoming collaboration with J. Cole. The two were recently in the studio working on new music, though it’s unclear where that may land.

“All Star Break Up” also hints at Wale’s current label situation. The song was released through Maybach Music Group/Every Blue Moon, with no mention of Atlantic Records, prompting speculation that he is off the label and possibly going independent.

If Wale is working on a new album, it will be his sixth full-length following last year’s Shine.
