Justin Timberlake is back as a Man of the Woods in the stunning trailer for his forthcoming album, due next month.
Following mysterious teasers for his first full-length LP since 2013’s The 20/20 Experience – 2 of 2, the pop superstar revealed the title and inspiration for MOTW in a short, poetic clip that finds him in the scenic woods with his wife Jessica Biel.
“This album is really inspired by my son, my wife, my family, but more so than any other album I’ve ever written, where I’m from,” he said. “It’s personal.”
Soundtracked by snippets of new material, Timberlake’s frequent collaborator Pharrell Williams pops up in the studio with some descriptive words about what fans can expect from the album.
“It feels so earthy,” he explained. “It’s just where you are in your life right now.” Listening back to a song from the LP, he adds: “That is a smash.”
Timberlake captioned the clip “FRIDAY…” hinting at a Jan. 5 release for the potential first single, rumored to be titled “Fresh Leaves.”
Man of the Woods is due Feb. 2, just two days before Timberlake takes the stage at the Super Bowl LII Halftime Show in Minneapolis.
Timberlake has been in the studio with Pharrell, Max Martin, and Timbaland, who gushed about the singer’s new material. “It’s gonna put him on another plateau,” he told Rolling Stone.
