Kehlani stays winning. After scoring her first nomination at Sunday’s American Music Awards, the Oakland songstress returns with the triumphant track “Already Won.”
Over a head-knocking instrumental, a celebratory Lani sings and raps about her personal victories. “I already won,” she sings. “I got the keys to my hood / Mama say she’s good / Doing what I should.”
Then, she takes on award shows, doubters, and critics in a rap verse. “I’m nominated for a Grammy, AMAs, and BET Awards,” she rhymes. “Man, what an honor, never dreamed I’d do all this before / But you can’t put a worth over my art / That’s my story, that’s my heart / That’s my soul, fuck the fame, keep the glory.”
“Already Won” marks the latest release from Kehlani, who dropped “Honey” and “Touch” in recent months.
