New Music: Machine Gun Kelly, X Ambassadors, & Bebe Rexha - 'Home'

  /  11.16.2017

Machine Gun Kelly joins forces with X Ambassadors and Bebe Rexha on “Home,” the newest single from Will Smith’s upcoming Netflix blockbuster, Bright.

The piano-laden track features X and Bebe on the soaring chorus, while MGK delivers the rap verses. “I still ache from trying to keep pace,” he raps on the first verse. “Somebody give me a sign, I’m starting to lose faith.”

Kellz, who also sings on the track, rhymes about overcoming obstacles, including demonic opps. “If I have any enemies, give me the strength to look the devil in his face and make it home safe,” he rhymes.

Kelly wrote his portion of the track the day he found out that Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington had died of suicide. “My original verses were a little too dark because of where my lyrics were stemming from, so I re-wrote and re-recorded my verses 13 times until we got the one we wanted,” said Kelly. “Bebe and X Ambassadors give me goosebumps when they start riffing back and forth at the end of the song; it feels like we all recorded it from the same emotional place. Home can be anything… A person, a dream, an escape — whatever it is, we all want a home.”

The official video, directed by Bright director David Ayer, will be released on Thanksgiving Day via Netflix.

“Home” follows “Darkside,” a collaboration between Ty Dolla $ign, Future, and Kiiara, which is also from the movie’s soundtrack.

Featuring Logic, Migos, Meek Mill, YG, Snoop Dogg, Steve Aoki, A$AP Rocky, and more, Bright: The Album is due Dec. 13, while the film will premiere on Netflix on Dec. 22.
