Hot off the video for “Nothing Burns Like the Cold,” Snoh Aalegra teams up with Logic for “Sometimes,” the latest single from her forthcoming album FEELS.

Over soulful production with a boom-bap flare, Snoh delivers her potent vocals with pensive lines about introspection. “Oftentimes I wonder if I’m supposed to be here,” she sings. “Even though I struggle, the light is always so near.”

Meanwhile, Logic — who currently has the No. 3 song in the country with “1-800-273-8255” — pays tribute to some of his favorite rappers. “Use your common sense like Resurrection,” he raps. “Yes, that is for sure / I’ve been speakin’ in code this whole verse / Lyrics disperse like MF DOOM, then hit ’em in reverse.”

After debuting the song on Beats 1, Aalegra explained the song’s significance. “‘Sometimes’ is about how life points you in different directions though we are all ultimately the master of our own individual destinies,” she said. “We all have the power to steer the wheel to where we want to take ourselves, but you inevitably have things happen to you that you have no control over. You have to deal with these things whether you like it or not, and you have to readjust, rethink and refocus.”

She also beamed about Logic’s guest appearance. “Logic was the perfect person for this song,” she said. “I’ve known him since before he put out his first album. We used to record in the same studio years ago with No ID. I think it goes without saying that Logic has a strong and powerful message in his artistic deliveries and has a very beautiful mind. I’m so thrilled to have him be a part of FEELS.”

This fall, Snoh will head out on her first North American tour, supporting Daniel Caesar. FEELS is due Oct. 20.
